Public Announcement: Impact of Corona Virus

The DNI is altering its services due to the impact of Covid-19 and new operating guidelines:

  • Clinics will continue but patient contact will be ‘virtual’ whenever possible i.e. by phone and/or video link
  • Patients will be seen in person when emergency cases arise.
  • DNI day wards will continue operating until advice to the contrary.
  • Where patients are either testing positive for Covid-19 or are suffering symptoms of the virus alternative arrangements will need to be put in place. These will be organised on an individual basis.

Our staff are working extremely hard to deal with the virus and to care for all patients currently in the hospital. The DNI is employing all infection control measures and every effort is being made to manage and control the spread of the virus.

Visiting restrictions at the DNI

In the interest of safety, we are still requesting that the public do not visit the DNI at this time. The only visitors allowed are those who must accompany a patient who needs assistance and is limited to one person per patient.

No children are permitted to visit the DNI under any circumstances.

These visitor restrictions are in place for public and patient safety to minimise the possible spread of infections.

If you are a permitted visitor or patient, please ensure you have properly washed your hands before arriving at the DNI and please use the hand hygiene gel or foam provided at our main entrances on arrival and exit from the DNI. Please cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough and sneeze, put used tissues into a bin and wash your hands afterwards. Responsible hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette helps to stop the spread of viruses.

If you have been to an area with confirmed Coronavirus or if you are experiencing symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, breathing difficulties and a high temperature, please do not visit the DNI. Please contact your GP by telephone if you require medical assistance.

For more information on Coronavirus (COVID-19) please see the HSE website here or call the HSE helpline on 1850 241850.

Thank you for your cooperation.
